Research Association

The German Center for Brain Stimulation (GCBS) consists of a team of leading scientists proposing to establish a pioneering research consortium in the field of therapeutic Brain Stimulation in Germany. The eight participating research groups in the Universities of Berlin (Charité), Bochum, Bonn, Dortmund, Dresden, Munich (LMU), and Tübingen, have already collaborated before on various platforms and over many years in research and in academic training. The GCBS will be therefore built on an existing network of world-leading experts, each of them with roots in a particular discipline and all of them determined to develop collaboration across disciplinary boundaries. Unlike in other research fields of psychiatry, distances between animal models and Proof-of-Principle (PoP) studies or between neurophysiological models and therapeutic applications are shorter and can be overcome faster.

We believe that, the most promising clinical developments will arise from inter- or transdisciplinary research. The inner architecture of GCBS, therefore, deliberately takes into account this fact by bringing together scientists working in the field of clinical research with clinical neurophysiologists, neurologists, and animal researchers.

GCBS Partner

The GCBS Consortium consists of 7 leading experts in brain stimulation across Germany who together are responsible for the implementation of the different workpackages of the GCBS Project. To provide you a better overview you will find here more information about each leading professor.
